The ServSafe Manager course discusses foodborne illnesses, including information on specific foodborne pathogens and biological toxins, such as shellfish poisoning, contamination, and food allergens. Prevention is also covered, with information regarding purchasing and receiving guidelines, food preparation, holding, and serving guidelines, food safety management systems, sanitation guidelines for facilities and equipment, and integrated pest control, as well as food safety regulations and employee training.
Servsafe Manager Certification meets South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) Regulation 61-25 Conference for Food Protection ANSI certified Food Protection Manager course requirements. This regulation requires that at least one employee with the authority to direct and control food preparation and service shall be a food protection manager who has been certified by an accredited program.
ServSafe Food Manager Certification is intended for food service managers and staff with the responsibility of ensuring can be obtained through one of the following methods.
ServSafe Manager certification verifies that a manager or person-in-charge has sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness.
The ServSafe Manager Book, 7th edition, is suggested for the instructor-led course. This book covers critical principles including: personal hygiene, cross contamination, time and temperature, receiving and storage, food safety management systems, training hourly employees, and more.
$195 – Includes the participant’s choice of either online training or an instructor-led course and a proctored examination attempt.
Individuals that successfully pass the 90-question, multiple-choice exam will receive a ServSafe Manager Certification and wallet card.
The ServSafe Manager Certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the Conference for Food Protection Standards and satisfies the training requirements under SC DHEC 61-25 Regulations.
