Medical Management of CBRNE Incidents

Disaster Preparedness for Healthcare Providers

Medical Management of CBRNE Incidents equips emergency care providers with the skills needed to detect, triage, treat, and transport victims of CBRNE incidents. Training consists of lectures, facilitated discussions, and small group simulations to promote critical thinking in clinical situations involving CBRNE exposure.

This course is provided by the Texas A&M University Extension Service in conjunction with FEMA.

I just wanted to tell you what a great program you have. As you already know, your instructors are top notch. In all my years with the State Police I attended dozens of training classes and certification programs and your instructors rate as some of the best instructors I have ever had.

PER 211: Medical Management of CBRNE Incidents equips first responders with the tools necessary to triage, treat, and transport patients involved in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive incidents.

This program is delivered through a variety of facilitated discussions, small group exercises, and hands-on simulations that allow participants to apply their skills to adult and pediatric victims of CBRNE events while utilizing the RAPID Care concept.

Exercises conducted in a CBRNE scenario reinforce classroom lectures and provide participants with opportunities to demonstrate learned techniques to assess, triage, decontaminate, treat, and stabilize patients. Personal protection and limit of cross contamination is also discussed.

This course is intended for first responders and hospital personnel that may be called upon to respond or treat patients during a CBRNE event.

Successful completion of this course results in a certificate of course completion and 16 Continuing Medical Education hours.

All course books, materials, and instruction are provided for this course. The facilities charge covers breakfast, lunch, and refreshments for both days of this course.

A certification exam is completed at the end of this program. Students that do not achieve a passing score will be remediated and allowed an additional attempt to test.
