I just wanted to tell you what a great program you have. As you already know, your instructors are top notch. In all my years with the State Police I attended dozens of training classes and certification programs and your instructors rate as some of the best instructors I have ever had.

Kevin B., EMT

Meriden, CT

Code One provides PEPP’s ALS hybrid course.  This program is a mix of online learning (14.0 hours of education), combined with hands-on practice in the classroom. Instead of attending a 2-day traditional onsite course, students learn a portion of the course through self-directed online modules. After completing all of the online modules, students then attend a 1-day onsite course for completion of hands-on practice, as well as instructor interaction and the final examination.  Although this is an ALS course, BLS (EMRs, EMTs) providers are welcome to participate in this program.

Topics in the PEPP program include:

  • Pediatric Assessment
  • Respiratory Emergencies
  • Resuscitation and Dysrhythmias
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Trauma
  • Children in Disasters
  • Emergency Delivery and Newborn Resuscitation
  • Children with Special Health Care Needs
  • Child Maltreatment
  • Shock
  • Airway Skills Station
  • Vascular Access
  • Spinal Stabilization Skills

This course is intended for first responders and hospital personnel that may be called upon to respond or treat pediatric patients.  There are no prerequisites for this course.

The American Academy of Pediatric is approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). Participants who successfully complete the PEPP Course are eligible to receive continuing education units (CEUs) through CECBEMS. The BLS Hybrid Course provides 8.5 hours of CEUs, and the Onsite Course provides 8 hours. The ALS Hybrid Course provides 12.5 hours, and the ALS Onsite Course provides 14 hours.

The PEPP third edition student manual is required for this course and is available for purchase during the registration process.

A certification exam is completed at the end of this program. Students that do not achieve a passing score will be remediated and allowed an additional attempt to test.
