WHAT IS A BEACON BEACON CPR SUPERHERO?

 
CPR Superheroes are everyday people who possess the skills and knowledge they need to save lives.  Through this private, 30 minute skills appointment, our heroes will work to empower you with the tools needed to act in an emergency.  You'll learn how to recognize when someone is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest or is choking, how to call 911, how to begin lifesaving chest compressions, and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  Skills appointments are held at a Code One Training Center location.

This training is ideal for anyone who would like to know CPR to be prepared for an emergency but are not required to have a CPR certificate for work or school. Hands-Only CPR is intended for parents, grandparents, babysitters, athletes, and the general public.

Course Registration

If you are required to have a CPR certificate for your employment or training, you would need to register for the appropriate certificate course – Heartsaver CPR AED for non-healthcare personnel or the BLS Provider course for healthcare professionals.

CPR Superhero Hands-Only Session FAQ

BEACON CPR Superhero Hands-Only Sessions are designed for lay rescuers and the general public who want to know CPR skills in case of an emergency.  This program includes a private, 30 minute, training session in which you’ll learn how to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, call for help, provide hands-only CPR, and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

This program is for general knowledge only.  It does NOT provide a CPR certificate.  If you are required to have a CPR certificate for work, please see our Heartsaver CPR AED (for non-healthcare professionals) or the BLS Provider program (for healthcare professionals).

Code One has over 50 locations which offer BEACON CPR Superhero Hands-Only Sessions by appointment.  While the exact hours of operation vary by location, most Code One Training Centers accept appointments Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  See our list of locations here.

No.  There is no online course requirement for BEACON CPR Superhero Hands-Only Sessions.  All training will be provided during your session and your instructor may provide additional resources after the session.  You may schedule your BEACON CPR Superhero Hands-Only Sessions through the scheduling portal after you have registered.

BEACON is the American Heart Association program with some enhancements.  Learners use instrumented manikins from RQI Partners which provide immediate audio and visual feedback on each skill to allow rescuers to achieve mastery and allowing you to BE A CONfident rescuer.

Yes.  We invite participants to bring a second learner to the session at no extra cost!  No additional registration or notification is required for the second learner to attend.

On average, the time to complete the BEACON CPR Superhero Hands-Only Session is 30 minutes.  Experienced rescuers may complete the skills in less time.

Learners arrive for their scheduled appointment to a Code One Training Center location and check-in using the instructions in their confirmation email.  Our system will confirm your appointment and call you with a door code so you may enter the skills training room.

Your Heartsaver Skills Session includes 3 skills and review:

  • Adult compressions
  • Infant compressions
  • Use of an AED
  • Review and practice
