Team Bio – Rich Shok
Rich Shok
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Rich is the founder and CEO of Code One Training Solutions, a company dedicated to preparing rescuers with the skills and knowledge they need to save lives. Founded in 2007, Code One began with Rich and Allison hosting on-campus CPR courses to support their undergraduate nursing classmates at the University of Connecticut. After graduation, Rich split his time working as an Emergency Department nurse and the company, until transitioning full time to Code One in 2017.
Under Rich’s leadership, the company experienced steady growth and by 2020 had twelve locations and 30 talented teammates. When the COVID pandemic began, the team realized a radical change was necessary to continue to survive, and Rich spearheaded a transition toward high-tech 1:1 virtual training that proved to be a wanted and needed model. The company’s growth has been exponential since then.
Rich’s life has been one of volunteerism and service to his community. This began in high school where he earned his Eagle Scout and served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for his hometown of Hebron, CT. As an adult, he continued to serve as a volunteer firefighter/paramedic, and is the Director for the Citizen CPR foundation HEARTSafe Community Program. He is proud to have been recognized as a Citizen CPR 40 under 40, and to have received the UConn Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) Award and the UConn School of Nursing Josephine Dolan Distinguished Service Award. He has been honored to speak on the topic of public access to fibrillation at the Zoll Summit, Fire Department International Conference, and the Citizen CPR Foundation Summit.
Rich shares two young boys with Allison who are wild, fun, and budding entrepreneurs in their own right. In his free time, Rich loves to be the host of a party and to take his family on adventures discovering new places to hike, bike, ski and explore.
