What is BEACON Stop the Bleed?

A bleeding injury can happen anywhere. You’ve seen it happen too often —on the news or in everyday life. Life-threatening bleeding can happen to people injured in serious accidents or disasters. Instead of being a witness, you can become an immediate responder because you know how to Stop the Bleed®. The Stop the Bleed® Interactive Course guides you through the three methods of bleeding control using video demonstrations, interactive learning, and spontaneous quizzes.

Intended Audience

Life threatening bleeding emergencies can happen to anyone at anytime. Stop the Bleed prepares you in face of severe bleeding with techniques that can be used to bring bleeding under control.

Course Topics

In a Stop the Bleed® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out:

  • How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound
  • How to pack a wound to control bleeding
  • How to correctly apply a tourniquet

These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.

Certification

You’ll receive a Stop the Bleed certificate upon successful completion of the online training and skills session.

What will I learn in a Stop the Bleed course?

When are BEACON Stop the Bleed Sessions offered?

Code One has over 60 locations which offer BEACON Stop the Bleed Sessions by appointment.  While the exact hours of operation vary by location, most Code One Training Centers accept appointments Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  See our list of locations here.

Do I need to complete an online course before scheduling a BEACON Stop the Bleed Session?

Yes.  There is a Stop the Bleed Online course which must be completed prior to scheduling your skills appointment.  Instructions for accessing the online course will be emailed to you upon registering for Stop the Bleed training.

Can I bring a friend or family member to my BEACON Stop the Bleed Session?

Yes. A second registered participant who has also completed the online portion of the Stop the Bleed training may attend the skills appointment with you. You can add a second learner to your appointment during scheduling.

How long will it take to complete the BEACON Stop the Bleed Session?

On average, the time to complete the BEACON Stop the Bleed Skills Session is 30 minutes. Experienced rescuers may complete the skills in less time.

What does the Virtual Instructor Guided Skills session look like?

Learners arrive for their scheduled appointment to a Code One Training Center location and check-in using the instructions in their confirmation email. Our system will confirm your appointment and call you with a door code so you may enter the skills training room. You will be in a private room with your virtually connected 1:1 BEACON instructor on the TV screen who will guide and support you through your hands-on skills session.
