You’ll need a copy of your current American Heart Association BLS Provider card. Most cards can be downloaded from the AHA My Cards portal. If you need to renew your card, Code One’s BEACON BLS Complete provides a fast and convenient way to get this done.
Complete an Instructor Candidate Application and get it signed by your accepting Training Center. You’ll need to upload the completed form during registration. If you need suggestions for Training Center alignment, please see this article.

An enrollment key for Code One’s Moodle Learning Management System will be emailed to you once you are registered. Complete the Online BLS Instructor Essentials course on Moodle prior to attending your instructor course.
BLS Instructor training is conducted by Code One’s national faculty in our Zoom virtual conference room. This is a live, online component which participants must attend at their scheduled time. Instructor Candidates learn about the Mission of the American Heart Association, goals for Emergency Cardiovascular Care, affiliation with a Training Center, and the programs that they will be able to instruct as an AHA instructor. Participants will evaluate skills being performed by video to become familiar with the skills testing process.
Complete the BLS Provider and BLS Instructor written exams on your Moodle account.
Observe instructor-led class(es) being taught at a Code One Training Center. You may attend as many as you need to be comfortable teaching independently. Instructor-led classes are only offered at certain Code One Training Centers – view the schedule of instructor-led courses to see where and when courses are available for monitoring.
Get monitored by Code One Faculty while you teach an instructor-led course at a Code One Training Center. Instructor-led classes are only offered at certain Code One Training Centers – view the schedule of instructor-led courses to see where and when courses are available for monitoring.
You’ll be issued your BLS Instructor eCard and will be able to start teaching AHA Heartsaver and BLS Provider courses under your affiliated Training Center.
