LEARN TO SAVE A LIFE WHILE SIPPING A BEER

CHARLESTON – A unique collaboration between two Charleston based companies has the potential of saving lives in the lowcountry.  Code One Training Solutions, an American Heart Association Training Center based in West Ashley will be providing Heartsaver CPR AED training courses on Wednesday evenings at Tradesman Brewing Company in downtown Charleston.

Over 350,000 cases of cardiac arrest – a condition when the heart suddenly stops beating – occur each year in the United States.  The keys to survival are early recognition that cardiac arrest has occurred, calling 911, performing high-quality CPR, and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  The Heartsaver CPR AED course trains participants to recognize cardiac arrest and how to provide lifesaving CPR and defibrillation until help arrives. It covers these skills for adults, children and infants.

Code One’s Owner and Director Richard Shok emphasized the importance of learning CPR.  “Less than half of the cardiac arrest victims in Charleston County receive CPR from bystanders before EMS arrives.  This is a major contributor to our very low survival rate right here at home. It is very important that people learn CPR from watching a hands-only CPR video online or taking a CPR class.”

Participants attending the class receive a pocket mask, student workbook, a certification card from the American Heart Association, and a pint of their choice from Tradesman Brewing Company.

Classes will be offered on Wednesdays January 22, February 5, or February 19 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  Participants can register at https://code1web.com/tradesman
