Welcoming a new baby is an exciting time for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other family and friends close to the growing family. It is also a time when feeling confident to respond in an emergency is one of the greatest gifts you can give them.
“Oh Baby!” is a specialized training session designed to empower caregivers with the knowledge and skills to face the unimaginable – a life-threatening condition in an infant or young child.
“Oh Baby!” is a supportive and private 30 minute hands-on session for 1-2 caregivers where you’ll learn how to respond to choking and cardiac arrest (heart not beating). The specialized classes are held at all Code One training locations and are led by highly skilled remote coaches. As a non-certificate course, it’s the perfect choice for family and loved ones of all ages.
Topics reviewed will include:
- How to identify choking emergencies in infants
- How to relieve choking for conscious and unconscious infants
- How to recognize cardiac arrest in infants
- How to perform lifesaving chest compressions on an infant (CPR)
- How to use an AED on an infant
- How to recognize and respond to severe allergic reactions
Our “Oh Baby” sessions are friendly, compassionate and empowering. Learners are encouraged to ask any and all questions (both big and small!) and spend time practicing hands-on skills on infant manikins. Code One coaches are well versed in emergencies for all ages and can answer questions regarding any phase of life – newborn to adult.
This session is an accessible and lower-cost alternative to full certification courses, ideal for families who want skills without formal testing or certification paperwork.
