Claiming Your E-Card

Congratulations! You have just completed your American Heart Association certification course. Now the most important part…. Claiming your certification. With various course formats offered, students may have questions about how to access their certification card at the end of their course. This article will provide instructions for redeeming your E-card.

Code One Training Solutions offers American Heart Association certification courses in the following four disciplines:

Heartsaver

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

We offer our courses in three formats: Beacon, Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), or Instructor-Led. All these course formats will provide you with an E-card upon successful completion of the cognitive and skill requirements established by the American Heart Association.

Whether you complete your course through the Beacon, VILT, or Instructor led platforms, the certification card that you receive will be the same. How you access your E-card will vary slightly based on the course format you choose:

BEACON

Beacon is our self-paced virtual course format. You will complete the cognitive material required for certification on our Moodle Code One online platform through a series of interactive scenarios, videos, and assessment questions. You can complete the cognitive portion of the course in the comfort of your home at you own pace. Once the cognitive material is complete you will be instructed to select a date, time, and location for your skills test at one of our approved skills testing centers.

During your skills test, you will perform your assessments on interactive manikins which are connected to a laptop. The laptop will provide you with feedback to assist you with your skill demonstrations. Your virtual instructor will control the laptop and guide you through each skill. Once you successfully complete your skills test on our Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) manikins you will have access to your E-Card.

To access your E-Card through the Beacon course platform, First log in to your Moodle Code One account. Once you sign in, you will see a “My Courses” tab at the top of the home screen. Once you click on “My Courses” You will see a drop-down list of each course that you are currently enrolled in (BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.) Select the course that you just completed. This will bring you to the next screen which will have three options. Select number three “Access E-Card” This will then open a second pop-up window. On the second window you will see a “View E-Card” icon. Once you click this icon your E-Card will be accessible and ready to view.

Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

Students who are enrolled in our Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) courses will sign-in to a video conference platform (Google-Meet) at a designated date and time. The VILT course will be taught by a Virtual Code One Instructor. The instructor will provide you and the other VILT students in the video conference with all the cognitive material and knowledge required for certification through a series of activities and demonstrations. At the conclusion of your VILT course your instructor will provide you with instructions to register for your skills testing session.

Your skills test will be held at one of our approved skills testing centers. Your virtual instructor will greet you and instruct you to perform your skills on the interactive RQI manikins. Once you successfully complete all your skills you will be provided with an E-Card.

At the completion of your skills test, your virtual instructor will release your certification. For VILT students, you will receive your E-Card directly in the email address that is on file with your registration.

Instructor-Led Training

This is our traditional “In-Person” course format. Instructor-led students will attend their course at one of our Code One campuses. Your instructor will be on site and will teach the course through a variety of videos, team activities, and lectures. You will have the opportunity to get thorough practice on the approved manikins and will complete your skills testing under the direction and supervision of your instructor.

Once you have demonstrated all the required skills successfully you will take an online examination to complete the cognitive portion of your certification course. Upon successful completion of your examination, you will be provided with an E-Card.

Instructor-Led students will have their E-Cards delivered directly to the email address that is on file with their registration.

Conclusion

Beacon students will have access to their E-Card immediately after their skill session. VILT and Instructor-Led students typically receive their E-Card in their email address 1-2 hours after completion of their course. All American Heart Association certifications are valid for 2 years.

Whether choosing the Beacon, VILT, or Instructor led course formats. Rest assured that your course will be taught to the highest possible standard and will provide you with the knowledge and skills to save a life.
