Should you still get CPR certified during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The answer is yes. CPR training is now easier and safer than ever before with BEACON by Code One.

CHARLESTON, S. C., March 10, 2021 — Code One Training Solutions LLC, a leading and growing provider of American Heart Association lifesaving CPR training and education operating 25 locations throughout the U.S., today announced the launch of BEACON by Code One. BEACON is CPR training reinvented. Rooted in a combined online, in-person and virtual delivery model, BEACON is designed for students who need flexibility and convenience, and who care about the quality of CPR training they receive and ultimately deliver.

Achieving CPR competence and mastering CPR performance are important steps in making sure healthcare professionals, first responders and bystanders are ready to respond to a cardiac arrest event. And the need for quality, safe CPR training is critical — especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Traditionally, CPR training takes place in a group, classroom setting and requires learning and hands-on skills testing to be completed in person. BEACON is a flexible, unique and first-ever alternative, combining the Association’s online, self-paced resuscitation cognitive learning with a virtually monitored, individual, in-person skills verification.

BEACON leverages the Association and Laerdal Medical’s co-developed HeartCode® portfolio and Resuscitation Quality Improvement ® (RQI ® ) program simulation station to deliver course instruction and skills testing, respectively. To earn the Association’s Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support course completion card, students must first take an online cognitive course. Upon completion, they schedule an appointment at the nearest Code One training location to perform the hands-on, in-person CPR skills verification, which is observed virtually by a Code One instructor.

Online scheduling, the availability of same-day appointments and individual student site access to ensure a safe, physically distanced learning environment are a few of BEACON by Code One’s offered conveniences.

“We are proud to be the first publicly-accessible American Heart Association Training Center in the country to use the HeartCode and Resuscitation Quality Improvement programs and technology. BEACON is a game-changing CPR training option,” said Rich Shok, owner, Code One Training Solutions. “The RQI manikins give real-time, calibrated feedback to ensure high-quality CPR performance. Our supervising, virtual instructors are highly trained and experienced. We believe this combination of education and technology will provide our students with a best-in-class CPR training experience, even in the midst of the pandemic.”

In addition to BLS, ACLS and PALS courses, BEACON by Code One also offers Heartsaver ® training, the Association’s CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) course designed for learners with limited or no medical training who need a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
